NSCS Past Seasons
Our 79th Season: 2014-2015
The theme of this season was "Ring/Sing/Swing"! We performed three exciting concerts, plus we joined the Evanston Symphony Orchestra for their traditional holiday program An Evanston Symphony Christmas on December 7, 2014.
The NSCS presented a Holiday Concert at Three Crowns Park Retirement Community in Evanston on Sunday, December 14, 2014, and also sang at the First Night Evanston celebration on December 31, 2014.
On Thursday, July 2, 2015, the Choral Society joined the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel on the University of Chicago campus for a free concert featuring music by Canadian and American composers, including works commissioned by the Calgary Philharmonic Chorus: A Song of Joys by Stephen Chatman and two war memorial works, Song of Poets by Abigail Richardson-Schulte, and a movement from Jeffrey Ryan's Afghanistan: Requiem for a Generation. The NSCS sang pieces by Aaron Copland (Zion's Walls) and Randall Thompson (Choose Something Like a Star). The program also included selections from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and Fauré’s Requiem.
