Come Hear Local Young Artists!
The Donald Chen Young Artists Award (DCYAA), established in 2008 by the North Shore Choral Society, supports and promotes young, emerging vocal artists. A competition, open to aspiring singers ages 19-28 who reside in the Chicago area, will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018.
Six to eight finalists, selected from submitted applications, will compete in a live concert before a panel of judges. This always-delightful and inspiring recital, to be held on February 18 at 4:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1024 Lake Avenue in Wilmette, is open to the public. The winners will be announced at a reception immediately following the concert.
Prizes: First Place: $500 and a paid solo performance in an upcoming NSCS concert. Second Place: $250. Third Place: $100.
Each of the finalists will sing two selections, one operatic aria and one contrasting art song or oratorio aria, freely determined by the applicant, 8 minute maximum total performance. An accompanist will be provided for the live auditions.
